Who we are

About us

Located in the Church Hall of All Saints Methodist Church in Abingdon, we are a thriving pack-away, Pre-school led by a dedicated, experienced and enthusiastic team of Early Years Practitioners working with a volunteer Parent Committee.

Children are active learners who learn through play. At Rush Common Pre-school we believe that our role is to support your child's learning through fun, using stimulating resources and activities. We provide a wide range of activities for the children including outdoor play, art and craft, cooking, singing and musical movement, sand and water play, role play opportunities and much, much more. Our outdoor area is accessible to children throughout the day in all but the most extreme weather conditions.

Our biggest asset is our experienced Childcare team of dedicated Early Years Practitioners, who are caring and welcoming. We understand that parents are a child’s main educator and we take the time to get to know not only the child but the whole family, building close relationships to help make your child feel at home, to enable them to learn and reach their potential in happy, relaxed environment.

Committee

An elected volunteer Committee, mostly parents, manages Rush Common Preschool, supporting a full time employed Preschool manager who oversees the day to day running and staff management. This ensures that the running of the group is in the hands of parents who use it. Committee members have designated roles/ responsibilities. The Committee are elected at the Annual General Meeting held in the Autumn term. Parents will be advised of the date of the meeting in good time for them to attend and put their vote and views to good use. Committee meetings are held approximately 4 times per year. The Committee is responsible for reviewing policy and procedures, the employment and appraisal of staff, fundraising etc.

Please note that without the support and commitment of parents forming a Committee, the preschool cannot operate and in the event of us ever being unable to form a committee (a legal requirement) we would be forced to close. If at any time you are interested in joining the Committee and helping us keep this wonderful preschool open for years to come, please speak to the Chairperson.
